Six years ago today...
Wolf Mother was released
Six years ago today, WOLF MOTHER (a story about a happily married, mother-of-two who goes through early menopause and accidentally awakens a bloodline curse that turns women into werewolves) was published!
Just under a year later, the print book was published:
Around this time, I saw author Rachael Johns do a cover-recreation contest for one of her books and thought it would be fun to try it for WOLF MOTHER. My friend Author Jennifer L Hart (@Pages & Potions Bookshop) did it too and this has to be one of my favourite moments from publishing WOLF MOTHER (seriously, don’t you just love the way Jennifer’s dog kindly posed in the background? I love the What is mom up to? look:-).
I also celebrated with some artwork by my cover designer and some special “swag” (there aren’t many people out there with these!):
And then… I got to work writing book 2.
Over the next couple of years there were some tough times and book 2 had to be put on the back-burner until things settled. But when they did, I got writing again. And now, I have a draft of book 2 which I refer to on here as WW (which has been through a structural edit and manuscript assessment and I am about to start getting it ready for a copy edit). In addition, I have a draft of a prequel novel set 24 years before WOLF MOTHER (which I refer to as WWo) which is currently with my editor for it’s first round of editing.
And I also have about 30K words towards a draft for a second prequel novel - also set in the 24 years before WOLF MOTHER world). And 15K words towards book 3 (which is currently going by WG). So, basically, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes and while it’s been going slowly, it is going.
Anyway, that’s all for this book birthday post.
If you’ve read WOLF MOTHER and left a review - thank you!
If you haven’t read it yet (and you want to) you can find it on Amazon.
And if you’d like to do a cover recreation too, I would LOVE to see it! (Make sure to tag me if you do:-)
Happy reading!
Lisa
